
Australia Indonesia Association
The Australia Indonesia Association (AIA) was founded in July 1945, one month before Indonesia’s declaration of Independence. This makes the AIA one of the oldest established organisations in the world with an ongoing interest in Indonesia.
It was established for the encouragement of art, culture and literature, and to foster and promote friendship, understanding and good relations between the peoples of Australia and Indonesia.
Since 1945, the AIA has been involved in a range of activities, including:
Australia Indonesia Awards program initiated in 2014
Exchange of information, literature, films, cultural exhibitions and other cultural and educational materials
Seminars and discussions with experts on Indonesian affairs
Participation in Indonesian celebrations in Australia
Annual school prize for Indonesian studies
Student scholarships for University
Student scholarships for immersion courses in Indonesia
